Our commitment to the Armed Forces Community & Volunteers

Pury Erskine Ltd is committed to supporting our Armed Forces and the wider Armed Forces Community as well as those who volunteer their time to help our young people. We recognise the value serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and service families contribute to our country. This is our commitment to you.

  1. If you are a serving member of HM Forces we will offer you a free 30 minutes initial consultation with one of our team. We will also sign post you to similar free advice schemes run by our strategic partners if we cannot help you directly.

  2. If you are a recipient of the Elizabeth Cross or the child of a recipient of the Elizabeth Cross we will offer you a free 30 minutes initial consultation with one of our team. We will also sign post you to similar free advice schemes run by our strategic partners if we cannot help you directly.

  3. If you are a serving member of HM Forces and you choose to instruct us, we will offer you a discount on your overall fee package to mark our appreciation of your service to our country.

  4. If you are a recipient of the Elizabeth Cross or the child of a recipient of the Elizabeth Cross and you choose to instruct us, we will offer you a discount on your overall fee package to mark our appreciation of your loved one’s sacrifice for our country, and your loss.

  5. If you are a Veteran or were a civilian subject to service discipline concerned about your disciplinary record we will provide a free 30 minute Regulatory Health Check to ensure you’re fully briefed before entering the job market.
  1. We will always advertise all vacancies with Forces Family Jobs and will guarantee an interview to the spouse or dependents of a service personnel. We are ideally suited as a business which works entirely remotely to support staff in the event their spouse is posted within the UK or overseas. If you are successful, we will guarantee your job even if you have to move time zones.

  2. We seek to actively recruit via the Career Transition Partnership and guarantee an interview to candidates from this route. If you are successful in your application, you will receive support and mentoring from former service personnel to help you adjust to life outside HM Forces and to fit into your new role.

  3. If you are wounded, injured or sick as a result of your service before or after you start working with us, we will work with you to make the adjustments necessary so you can maximise your potential with the firm.

  4. We will support you if you are a Reservist to balance working for us with your duties and training commitments including by offering flexible working. We offer five days additional paid leave per year to help you meet your training commitments, but you can also take as much additional unpaid leave as you need to support your training commitments.[1] If you are mobilised, we will offer you five days paid pre-deployment leave and a further five days paid post-deployment leave to help you. While you are mobilised, we will make up the difference between your usual pay with us and your service pay.[2]
  5. If you are bereaved through the loss of a member of the Armed Forces we will ensure you have paid compassionate leave and when you are ready to return to work we will be flexible ensuring you have the time and space to adjust.

[1] If you do not work set hours we will pay you the equivalent of five days pay as an end of year bonus instead.

[2] If you do not work set hours we will pay you the difference between your average billing over the three months prior to deployment each month on the same day you receive your service pay throughout your mobilisation.

 

  1. If you are a Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer or volunteer with The Scout Association or Girlguiding UK we offer five days additional paid leave per year for you to spend volunteering.[1]

  2. We will ensure you can work flexibly so that you can also meet your commitments as a volunteer but you can also take as much additional unpaid leave as you need to support your volunteering commitments.

  3. We will always strive to support our strategic partners in their voluntary efforts to support the Armed Forces and wider Armed Forces Community, both in terms of funding and expertise.

  4. We will give you time off to support the annual Poppy Appeal if you wish to do so.

  5. We will support you to volunteer and raise funds for ‘Armed Forces Charities’, Azadi Charity, the Scout Association or Girl Guiding UK.[2]

  1. We are committed to supporting youth organisations who help our young people as well as the families of those who serve.

  2. We offer six funded work experience placements each year for young people with an interest in a career in law. The scheme is open to current members of the Sea Cadet Corps, the Volunteer Cadet Corps, the Combined Cadet Force, the Army Cadet Force, the Air Training Corps, the Scout Association and Girl Guiding UK and children of service personnel who are aged over 16 years old.
