ABOUT

Pury Erskine Ltd is a niche law firm specialising in serious and complex crime; military and regulatory law. Our exclusively private criminal defence division is headed up by director Ian Graham. We provide expert legal advice to significant individuals; businesses; company directors and senior managers, in relation to all offences in the criminal calendar, with a particular emphasis in the complex area of sexual offences. We have lawyers who have been at the forefront of the specialist discipline of pre-charge representation over the last ten years. Our ethos is that ‘prevention is better than cure’ and our lawyers have a proven track record of holding the police and other regulatory bodies to account. Our lawyers will maintain complete discretion, whether your case is high profile, or there are issues relating to privacy and reputation management.
We provide a genuine 24/7 service and understand that most of our clients will have professional commitments in normal working hours.

Quality Policy

Pury Erskine Ltd is committed to a strict client selection policy, in addition to establishing limits on the number of new cases we admit. This means that there are periods when we will not accept new instructions.
We believe that this is the best way to provide our clients with the highest quality service; their lives and livelihoods are in our hands. This way we guarantee we can dedicate the time required to ensure that quality of service to each case we take on.

Therefore, all cases the firm accepts are reviewed by our Managing Director in the first instance
Pury Erskine Ltd is committed to quality and not quantity.

Why we're called Pury Erskine

Pury Erskine Ltd is a legal practice based centrally in south Northamptonshire. The unusual name Pury is a derivation of the word ‘Pirie’, the Anglo Saxon word for pear orchard, to reflect the firms’ geographical context.

The name Erskine is well known in legal annuls, reflecting the traditional values of the firm and its specialism in military law.

The Cuttle Mill site forms part of the wider Pury Hill Ltd estate and is ideally located to service the firms’ nationwide client base.

CLIENT SERVICE

We want to give you the best possible service. However, if at any point you become unhappy or concerned about the service we have provided then you should inform us immediately, so that we can do our best to resolve the problem.

In the first instance it may be helpful to contact the person who is working on your case to discuss your concerns and we will do our best to resolve any issues at this stage. If you would like to make a formal complaint, then you can  read our full complaints policy here. Making a complaint will not affect how we handle your case and you will not be charged for time spent handling your complaint.

What to do if we cannot resolve your complaint

The Legal Ombudsman may be able to help you if we are unable to resolve your complaint ourselves. They will look at complaints independently and accessing the Ombudsman will not affect how we handle your case. Most ‘consumer’ clients (as oppose to large businesses) will be able to make use of the Ombudsman scheme however there are restrictions for some larger clients.

Before accepting a complaint for investigation, the Legal Ombudsman will check that you have tried to resolve your complaint with us first. If you have, then you must take your complaint to the Legal Ombudsman:

  • Within six months of receiving a final response to your complaint

and

  • No more than six years from the date of act/omission; or
  • No more than three years from when you should reasonably have known there was cause for complaint.

Please note that the Ombudsman are there to deal with concerns about the level of service received.  Where there are more serious concerns that a solicitor or solicitor’s firm have been involved in professional misconduct then reports can also be made to the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the regulator of solicitors and solicitor firms. This could be for quite unusual and serious acts of misconduct such as dishonesty, taking or losing your money or treating you unfairly because of your age, a disability or other characteristic.

Obviously we do not anticipate any such problems arising and would ask that you notify the matter supervisor straight away if you have any such concerns.  You can find out more about the Solicitors Regulation Authority including their contact details and professional conduct rules on their website: www.sra.org.uk.
